life-of-its-own bag?

I finished my doily bag last night.  It hasn’t turned out much like the image in my head (which was pretty fuzzy, granted), so I’m calling it the life-of-its-own bag.

Each side is a semi-circle, with a folded-over doily as the starting point. The finished thing is far too wide, so I gathered it up a bit in the corners.

It’s lined and has a fancy magnetic clasp, but — I know, it’s still WEIRD, right!?  Anyway, it is what it is and at least I got the idea out of my head now, and can go on to making something far more sensible.

Back soon x

I love it Jill! I know how you feel about an idea; you just have to make it and then you can go on to your next creation. Thanks so much for sharing your creations with all of us. I’m looking forward to many more of your designs. Love and Hugs, Tamara

hehe…but no-one who reads my stuff would ever do that, unless in jest – unless I’ve misunderstood someone’s sense of “jest”!!! I know you are thinking this bag just needs pompoms to really send it to another stratosphere :-)

hmmm… reminds me of artist depictions of energy waves, therefore the addition of fringe and sparkly bits can only add to it’s je nai se quoi.

I did start crocheting some corkscrews along the bottom (pattern from Ms Eckman’s amazing book of edgings) but it looked whack. I mean, more whack than it already is. Maybe a fringe of sorts, like you say, or see Rachel’s comment endorsing the use of as many pom-poms as possible:-)

Jill, I just love it. Reminds me of an orange floral bag I bought a few years ago bedecked with fringes, lace, sequins, etc and every time I used it when I was out with P he would shudder. xxx

It is good to try something new and more organic and this is both. It may be a bit ‘mad’ but the fact that it is a little quirky makes it quite unique- there will never be another bag quite like it and it is therefore extra special! Personally I love it! The mad mix of yarns with the old doiley is very original and as for the magnetic clasp! Wonderfully weird and totally practical. Jill x
