A lovely new customer found me at the Somerset West Country Craft Market last Saturday, and I’m making a beret for her in Vinni’s Cotton in Ballet Pink. It’s similar to the mustard one I had on display (seems mustard isn’t a popular colour, who knew!)
It feels like a long long time since I used a 3mm hook for anything, but I’m enjoying the change:
And I’m using this pattern by Luba Davies:
I’ll be working on this while watching Madiba’s memorial service in Johannesburg at 11h00:

Love back x
I like mustard but it is not everyones colour….
Sure. This lady’s complexion is perfect with pinks and soft, warm colours.
I want to make a beret like that one day. Love the effect. The pink is very pretty.
I’ve just finished the five rows of decrease, and actually I think I’ve made it too large, despite following the instructions on how to measure for size and then how many rows to do. Sigh.
As long as it fits right round the head won’t it be okay. More decreases?
I’ll only know if it fits right round the head when I’ve done the last row of the welt, but for now it looks like it would fit a hippo. Maybe if I decrease more rapidly….I’ll end up with an attractive (albeit unusual) puffy look?
Nelson Mandela will never be forgotten. :)
cyber hugs to you.
