My mum used to make dolls for a living and when she was didn’t like how one of her creations turned out she would put it to one side saying ‘someone will buy it one day’ and she was mostly right.
Hopefully you have enough yarn to make a beret the right size and put this version into your stock whilst you await the next passing hippo!
I have begun a Fair Isle style tam and the band (knitted first) is too wide for me. My solution? I bought some knitting elastic and plan to thread it through each row of stitches and draw the work up ’til it fits my head. Luckily you can crochet yours smaller. ;-) it looks lovely, by the way. ~ Linne
I’m particularly enjoying the mental image of a hippo in a pretty pink beret. Perhaps some matching slippers…?
Perhaps. Four of them… :-)
KEEEEEEEP GOING! Looks fab!
ja ja nearly done….
Be good for a Rasta with all their dreads ;) Although the thought of a Rasta in a pink beret is almost as funny as the hippo!!
You’re hilarious.
If its too big for a beret you could put it over a round board as a table mat for hot food :)
You’re also hilarious, Gail.
Oh Jill! You’re so funny; :) I’m sure the hat will be fine when you get the band on it. Thanks for sharing. Love and Hugs, Tamara
:-)
Been there!! lol Commitment is a beautiful thing!
Indeed!!! :-) I’m learning….
Yes, sometimes my creations become a little ‘interestingly sized’.
Oh good, not just me then!? :-)
And a very fetching hippo it will be too!
Hmmm but I don’t want the person who ordered it to take the size the wrong way. She’s the opposite of a hippo!

Seems like I was right to trust the pattern, about to post pics of finished item :-)
Big floppy berets are good!
As you will, it’s working for Carol. :-)
