back on etsy

The Kalk Bay market at the Brass Bell on Wednesday was cancelled – management decided it was too quiet to be viable (mainly due to lockdown regulations which still include curfew restrictions) until at least the summer comes and more locals start going out again and more tourists are able to visit Cape Town. As more people get vaccinated and case numbers fall, perhaps the curfew will be done away with completely. We can only hope.

I used the time I’d saved on Tuesday and Wednesday to restart my etsy shop. It’s something I’ve been meaning to get around to for ages, ever since I started working mainly with beads and playing around with fabric jewellery.

I’ve only got five items listed right now, but I aim to add three to five a day including some boot accessories. Perhaps you’d like to visit? Perhaps you’d like to favourite my shop? All fans welcome! The more the merrier!

That makes perfect sense. If you can’t go out, bring them to you. I thought about it a couple of years ago but couldn’t work fast enough to make it worthwhile.I’m sure you will do wonderfully. Your things are beautiful. Too bad I’m giving away these days instead of bringing in anything new. The youngsters are going to love your stuff.

postage seems very reasonable to me (my stuff can sneak through at large letter, which, if I want a signed for service is over £2, and etsy tells me it will be just over £5 to come from you). They seem rather underpriced for all the work that goes into making them, if you don’t mind me saying. Good luck with the reopening, I’ve favourited your shop. You should definitely get some of your boot trinkets up there, as I’ve never come across them before.

Hi Dawn, I had noticed that you’d favourited my shop – THANK YOU :)
They are actually rather reasonably priced, but I wanted to try and get the etsy thing off the ground. I’m also going to list them on Peek, which is South Africa’s Craft & Design Institute website, and hellopretty, a local sales platform. Fingers crossed.
Will definitely list some boot stuff xx Thanks for your input

You know I love your stuff, all of it! Spring is round the corner in the southern hemisphere, as you’re of course aware, so in addition to your gorgeous boot danglies, can I put in a request for flip-flop clips, some sort of decorative flower/tassel/doodah to clip onto my flip-flop straps to make them more glamorous? I’ve tried with flower hair clips, but the clip is too big and doesn’t work so well on the straps, and besides, I’d rather have your pretties!

Okay, I don’t wear flipflops so really can’t think how this would work – going to see if pinterest can give me any ideas! (Not that you couldn’t whip up something yourself ;) )

True, but I have no beading expertise or supplies. I was thinking something like Wonder Clips to attach them. Just an idea. I think it would go here where *everyone* wears thongs, so maybe there too?

Interesting that the market was cancelled, due to less people out and about. But on the other hand it’s given you the incentive to re-open your Etsy store, may it go well.

I hope this is really successful for you. I want to favourite it but can’t see how – do I nees to sign in or something? Anyway good luck. I like Kate’s idea of things to add to flip flops too.

Thank you :). I think you do need to sign in, not everyone has a user name and password, you only need to if you buy/favourite something. I’m going to google flipflops and see what comes up – I’m not personally a flip-flop wearer so a bit clueless
