My little denim market bag has become old and shabby. I need to have room for cash, cell phone and parking ticket – three things you never want to lose touch with when you’re busy and distracted at a market. I also like to wear it as a crossbody because it’s too easy for it to slip off if it’s just over one shoulder. Goodbye, tired old friend.
Hello, sweet and pretty new patchwork buddy!
Except for the blue lace, these bits were all leftovers from cushions and bedspreads. The back is old denim from a pair of jeans that are happily now far too big for me to wear, with an extra pocket for luck.

I love the colours and the lacy bit! There’s no reason why something that’s functional can’t also be gorgeous, and this is a perfect example!
Thanks, v happy with it. Definitely going to run some up for next year, I have plans for quite a few new products :)
Great idea. I’m sure you’ll get lots of takers.
Looks great – and so useful too. I keep meaning to drop you an email, but somehow the weeks have passed by and I haven’t done it yet… soon, I promise.
I plan to make more next year, including some tote-sized ones. The weeks do fly, don’t they, I can’t believe we’re so close to the end of the year. In some ways, I’m really looking forward to the new one!
Oh My gosh Jill. I love your little scrappy crossbody bag and what a great idea to use all those little scraps that you can’t seem to throw away. :)
It’s true, sometimes I do a big sweep-up and then think, No, come on, this is definitely not bin-worthy!
Well done!
Thanks!
Love your bag, Jill, so pretty. May it be stuffed to capacity with cash from market sales.
Thanks, Gail. We all dream of that, don’t we? :)
Well isn’t this just so neat. I love it, pretty, functional and made from scraps. The perfect project for this post. Good luck with the markets.
Thanks, Cathy. There’s going to be less stock than was planned for way back in May, but I’m being realistic. I still feel optimistic about sales for the coming month!
Perfect combination of feminine and “cool”!
Thanks, KCB <3
Love your new bag and the lace adds that extra bit of something!
Oh my goodness, I love seeing these. Not sounds like an old granny, but I proudly walked around with jeans bags in the seventies…only I never thought of adding lace etc. Now I wish I had! Cheers, Johanna
Lace makes everything better! Especially blue lace :D It’s wonderful, and I hope it lasts forevah
For some reason, I haven’t been getting notifications of your posts in my e-mail. I’ll have to check out why that is happening. Cute bags. I keep thinking about making one but so far, it’s still down the list. Yours is quite cute. Inspires me to try one after the holidays. ;)
Quite a nice new one, but I’d have been sad at discarding the old one. It took me a while to work out that a parking ticket for you is not what it is for me!
Hi, Jill! just dropping by for a moment. Love that bag (and the old one, too). I have two end of blue jean legs that I’m planning to make into bags for myself and yesterday we went to Vernon, where my storage stuff is, and I brought home a half dozen boxes. In two of them is fabric!! So I am a happy camper!
Am thinking of you so often and sending you plenty of Love and Light . . . and big hugs, too. Take care, my friend. ~ Linne
old jeans and an unpacked fabric stash — what’s not to love!? xxx I think of you, too.
Hi, Jill; it’s Boxing Day here already (just past midnight) and I was thinking of you. I’m glad you think of me at times, too. I wish you all the best in the coming year, my friend. Love and Light to you. ~ Linne
